Where did Zamzam water come from?

“And have you seen the water that you drink? Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?” (Surah al Waqiah, verse68-70)

Zamzam is said to be superior over normal water due to its history. Every Hajj and Umrah pilgrims carry as much as he/she can to home as a gift from the soulful journeys. January Umrah packages are an excellent chance to drink this sacred water.

Age and History of Zamzam Water

This well came into existence at 2400 BC when Hazrat Ismail (R.A) was an infant. He was the son of Prophet Ibrahim (R.A). Allah Almighty instructed Prophet Ibrahim (R.A) to leave his wife Hajara (R.A) and his infant Ismail (R.A) in the middle of the desert alone.

The Prophet Ibrahim (R.A) did the same. Nobody can bear the extreme hot weather of the desert without having water to drink. After a short time when the Prophet left his wife and infant alone, the baby started crying due to lack of water.

Hazrat Hajara (R.A) started searching for water. Being a mother, she was also not able to leave her child alone further. She ran to the top of the mountain named Al-Safa but did not find even a drop of water. She returned from there without water.

After returning from Al-Safa mountain, she didn’t sit down calmly. She started running towards the hill Al-Marwah. This time she also had to be disappointed as she didn’t see a source of water even at a far distance. This process continued for seven times.

Allah Almighty sent an angel named Jibreel (A.S), He arrived and struck the surface of earth and water started to flow and never stops till. This is the same point where the infant prophet Ismail (R.A) struck his heel.
